Ed Glaser, the right choice for Indian River County.
Ed Glaser, the Right Choice, the Only Choice for Indian River County. 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN VIRTUALLY ALL COMMAND CAPACITIES OF THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY I have had a long-standing stake in this community for over 30 years. My two youngest daughters, Lauren and Emma, ages 8 and 10, both attend our public schools. My two oldest children, Edward and Erin, have already grown into productive, responsible citizens. Indian River County is a wonderful place to live and to raise a family, but unprecedented growth in recent years now threatens the quality of life we have always taken for granted. Crime of every nature, from drugs to gangs, from robberies to the senseless, brutal murder (still unsolved) of a quiet, elderly lady in her own Vero Beach home have invaded our once sleepy little town. Consequently, cooperative, vigilant, yet even-handed, law enforcement is more important than ever for our community and all of its citizens. I want to ensure that your children and mine have the same chance to grow and excel to their fullest potential in a safe and healthy environment devoid of fear or prejudice. While preparing my candidacy for Sheriff, and to broaden my experience base, I have become a State Certified Substitute Teacher in order to stay in touch with what is happening in our schools. There are immense threats that face our schools from people who want to do America great harm by using the vulnerability of our innocent children to destroy our Western Society. Please visit the page on this web site, School Safety, dealing with The Threat of Terrorism in Our Schools. Learn what the F. B. I. and other agencies know. Learn what we as a Nation, and as a Community, must do to thwart Al-Qaeda’s next attack. Osama Bin Laden and his radicals claim they have clerical permission to kill four million innocent Americans, two million of whom can be our children. They have publicly vowed to do so. While our school children represent only 21 percent of our population, they represent 100 percent of our future. In the 21st Century, Hometown Security has, of necessity, become an integral part of Homeland Security. The Office of Sheriff requires a leader who knows how to think globally, yet how to act locally. When one considers all of the above, we clearly face crime and unprecedented challenges from many sources. I urge you to help me reshape our Sheriff's Office. The threat to our children is only one issue to face the new leader of our Sheriff’s Office. Two years ago, it was my deep conviction that the Sheriff’s Office was so long-overdue for change and modernization that it convinced me to devote myself full-time to finishing my Masters Degree and to prepare myself for the task of running for Sheriff. WITH THE RIGHT, PROVEN LEADER WHO KNOWS HOW TO PRIORITIZE BETTER RESULTS AND EFFICIENCY NEED NOT COST MORE! After 25 years in the Sheriff's Office, I know that to tackle the challenges that face us we need dedicated police professionals. But these dedicated professionals will be attracted and remain only when they are convinced that the Sheriff's Office runs fairly and efficiently; that it is a career growth environment where WHAT you know is more important than WHOM you know. Discouraged deputies can become disgruntled deputies. I pledge that I can and will do a better job. The current “good old boy” nepotistic network that permeates our current Sheriff’s Office just has no place in 21st Century law enforcement. Please become informed, and please help me to safeguard our freedoms and way of life. Please take the time to understand my 25 years of "boots-on-the-ground" experience and the advantages of my focused, graduate-level education; please know my goals, and plans to return "unity" to the word "community,"; my plans to establish an Advisory Council representative of ALL sectors of our community. If you will visit the page "About Ed," I will let my experience and education speak for themselves. If you will visit the page about "The Candidates" I am confident that my leadership, experience and management-oriented education will be clearly evident, and demonstrate why I am the best qualified to lead and to take full command from day one. When you have learned what I am all about, I am certain you will join me in helping us face together the challenges that lie ahead. I ask for your support.
